Paragraph 1 Issues:
Thesis Statement
Tourism
is able to bring several opportunities to a country's economy, but can also contribute significant problems to local
communities
if not
regulated
. That said, it is important to understand how over-
tourism
can lead to
many
irreversible effects if the designated government units do not implement the necessary measures to counter this. To do so,
let's
dissect how local
tourism
impacts
cultures
.
Local
tourism
allows visitors the opportunity to learn about ethnic
communities
and their
culture
, but if not
regulated
properly, can lead to overcrowded heritage sites and eventually, destroyed homes or establishments. If crowds are not properly managed, people are more likely to litter, car traffic increases,
and
as a result, fosters pollution of
many
forms. This calls the need to establish rules aimed at
regulating
the rapidly rising
tourism
in these areas.
In order for these
cultures
to preserve their sanctity, the necessary ordinances should be established by the designated governing bodies to
regulate
the amount of people who visit these areas. This means that foreigners should be willing to pay extra to experience certain attractions or visit specific locations
that
otherwise, would be free or cost less for locals. Doing so does not totally eliminate the possibility of tourists visiting, but
can
in some way, manage the crowds that are quick to accumulate without these measures.
In short, tourists should be willing to
pay
at least, a small price for inconveniencing the lives of other people and in some ways, disrupting their homes.
Tourism
is a tool that cultivates growth for individuals and
communities
alike, but like
many
things in life, too much of something can be destructive. That is why
regulating
the number of tourists at a time is instrumental for keeping
many
communities
and
cultures
alive.
