The global nature of today's society has led to a greater emphasis on learning foreign languages. Some educators argue that this is essential for cultural understanding and economic opportunities, while others believe that the time and resources spent on language education could be more effectively used in teaching other more critical skills.

students
should prioritize learning a new
language
or focus on their core skills. I believe that students
should prioritize their general skills rather than adding a new
language
class to their curriculum.Firstly, learning a
new
language
requires a significant time commitment. Starting from scratch means lacking background knowledge, and mastering thousands of vocabulary words is daunting. Balancing this alongside other subjects requires careful time management. Many students
may struggle to maintain their mental well-being and avoid academic burnout due to the workload. Moreover, not all
students
have aspirations to travel abroad. For them, a language
class might seem irrelevant to their goals, leading to disinterest and poor performance. This lack of enthusiasm can result in lost passion and lower grades. In conclusion, while learning a
new
language
has its advantages, I disagree with making it a mandatory part of the curriculum. It can overwhelm students
' schedules and detract from their core educational priorities.
