Missing Linking Devices
transportation
system
is a significant issue today, closely linked to traffic
congestion
and air pollution. Governments
must make informed decisions to address this challenge. They have two primary options: investing
in the development of roads
and highways
or enhancing
public
transportation
systems
. I firmly believe that prioritizing public
transport
improvements is the superior choice for several reasons.Firstly, constructing
new
roads
and highways
in urban areas is nearly impossible due to the scarcity of available space. For example, in cities, most areas are already occupied by residential and commercial buildings, leaving little room for new
infrastructure. Consequently, the government
faces substantial difficulties in finding the necessary space for new
roads
or highways
. Moreover, pursuing this approach could exacerbate existing problems, such as increased traffic
congestion
and environmental degradation.Furthermore, it is prudent for policymakers to focus on reducing the number of private
vehicles
and enhancing
public
transportation
. The ownership of private vehicles
rises sharply each year. However, if the government
implements effective policies to promote the use of public
transport
, the traffic
situation would improve significantly. For instance, investing
in efficient and reliable bus and train services can encourage more people to opt for public
transportation
, thereby alleviating traffic
congestion
and reducing air pollution. In conclusion, I believe that
enhancing
public
transport
is the most effective solution to the transportation
problem, rather than constructing new
roads
and highways
. When new
roads
are built, the number of vehicles
does not decrease but tends to increase. Therefore, focusing on public
transportation
improvements is a more sustainable strategy for addressing traffic
congestion
and mitigating air pollution. By investing
in public
transport
, governments
can create a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and accessible transportation
system
for all citizens.
