Thesis Statement
Some major resources such as public television networks,
museums
, and
festivals
are used by the
governments
of many nations to boost their
cultures
. This will bring some significant benefits, but there will be some
drawbacks
which
I will discuss
in this essay.
On the one hand, the
government
's
promotion
of
national
culture
can facilitate the wide-scale dissemination of cultural traditions and heritage. By hosting
festivals
, maintaining
museums
, and showing in TV programs, the
government
is able to share these elements of
national
identity with both domestic and international tourists. Additionally, enhancing the
promotion
of
national
culture
through such initiatives can boost tourism, which
not only brings cultural benefits but also yields
economic benefits for the country.
On the other hand, promoting
national
culture
through governmental initiatives can be costly. Organizing
festivals
, maintaining
museums
, and producing quality public television programs require substantial financial investment. These costs can put pressure on the
national
budget, especially for developing countries with limited financial resources, and focus more on other factors such as economics, politics or education. Moreover, excessive
promotion
of
culture
can sometimes be restrictive. Overemphasis on certain cultural elements might lead to a narrow portrayal of a nation’s identity.
In conclusion, while
government
's
promotion
of
national
culture
through
festivals
,
museums
, and public television programs offers significant pros but still exist some cons.
