Thesis Statement
National
sports are an important aspect of a country's
colture
. Over the
years
public
interest
in
national
sports has
declined
.
Missing Linking Devices
There are multiple reasons that
needs
to be considered to address the topic.
Globalization is one of the factors that needs to be
adressed
when it comes to the
declining
interest
in
national
sports. In a more globalized world
athletes
usually compete on an international
level
consequently decreasing the
interest
for
national
competition.
Globalization also implies that many sports that in the past were traditionally played in fewer countries can now be broadcasted worldwide sparking
intrest
in different nations and causing decreased
interest
in
national
sports.
Missing Linking Devices
Personally I believe that to
rejuvinate
public
interest
in
national
sports we should focus on children and young
athletes
. By increasing the number of children
that
participate in
national
sports
we would ensure that there is and there will be an audience for those sports. Another solution to the
aformentioned
problem, could be to organize and broadcast big sport events on a
national
level
.
People tend to be more engaged with a sport when there are
national
athletes
that
are able to compete and win globally. By investing in education and ensuring that there are good training facilities on a
national
level
we could increase the chances of having more
copetitive
athletes
resulting in higher
interest
in the sport.
When it comes to the
declining
interest
in
national
sports
we should also consider that, compared to the past, people
nowdays
tend to have more sources of entertainment. We often have access to hundreds of films, documentaries and TV programs all day every
day
resulting in an alternative form of entertainment.
