Thesis Statement
life
. However
, there is now a growing concern about its excessive use
which may create a generation of people
who will not possess basic navigation
skills. In addition to that, big
corporations are getting a bigger
share in our everyday
life
as we are increasingly using
more services
from them that use
GPS.Navigation
is one of the most important skills that our ancestors have used
in their everyday
life
. The traditional methods
that they used
to rely on are very powerful
and reliable, however
not much user-friendly in compared to modern GPS-based softwares
. The advent of modern methods
enabled more people
to use
precise navigation
methods
, even those who are specifically trained. Thus
the effects of these technologies are not entirely negative as they are helping people
to expand their business
and works in innovative manners. However
, the original concern is that, fewer number of people
are learning to use
traditional precise navigation
techniques. GPS-based methods
are easy-to-use, but they can also
fail easily. Also
, using
GPS for simple everyday
task
is also
creating a generation who can not
navigate in a small town on their own.Addtionally, we are
using
GPS not only for navigation
, but also
for getting various services
like ride sharing
or food parcel. These services
are controlled centrally by big
corporations, and they are slowly replacing local small service
givers. The ultimate result is that autonomous small businesses
are losing their market to big
businesses
. Thus
our service
industry is becoming over-reliant on central economic institutions like banks and share markets. These institution
often faces
downturn, which will severely effect
our everyday
life
if we become too much dependent on centralized services
. Local businesses
are more flexible to endure such economics downturns.Emphasizing on
navigation
and geography education in elementary and secondary school is crucial for training young people
to rely on their own knowledge for naviagting
around. While GPS should of course
be used
for precise navigation
and for conducting businesses
, we should not be overreliant
on this technology.
