Gender
discrimination persists as a primary issue for many educational institutions around the globe.
In an ever-changing world, addressing this
gender
disparity is crucial for societies to evolve and economies to develop, and as more
schools
adapt more progressive learning methods, it is a right for every
student
to receive equitable opportunities regardless of their
gender
.
Gender equality is necessary in
schools
as it fosters a collaborative environment for
students
and encourages a diverse exchange of ideas. Furthermore, it has been proven that group activities prompt learning beyond theoretical knowledge, and enhances useful soft skills such as communication and teamwork among
students
. That is why allowing
students
of different
genders
to work together can equip more individuals with skills that they can utilize when they enter the workforce, ultimately contributing to long-term economic growth.
However, in order to successfully achieve
gender
equality in
school
districts, local government units should implement strict policies that urge
schools
to build safe spaces for everyone. This can start by requiring all
students
to undergo Gender Studies as a required course in their program curriculum. As a result,
students
can become aware of the existing prejudice that exists among women all over the world. This is also good practice for them to learn about common incidents in the workplace wherein sexism is present and how to act accordingly.
Thus, the
gender
gap still has a long way to go before it can be exhaustively addressed among
schools
globally. If all individuals are valued, not for their identified
gender
, but for their talents and what they can contribute to the world, economies and societies have the potential to flourish beyond what is expected.
