Thesis Statement
Democratic system demand people involvement in numerous public decision including when
trialing
a criminal suspect. The presence of
audience
in the courtroom can bring advantages to the suspects as well as disadvantages to them. I will examine both view in
below
paragraph.
Broadcasting the trial to
public
can bring some advantages.
First, transparency.
because
the
process
is guided by the public, all applicant's and
defendent
's plea and
evidences
will be witnessed by many. With that in mind, it can prevent any abuse of power by the public servant. For example, a criminal case enthusiast likes to analyse the case
process
including judge and prosecutor's appeal, and conclude whether the verdict is arbitrary or not . Next, it can ensure the law enforcement are doing
prudent
job. Since the hearing will be heard by people, any wrongdoing can be noted and reported later.
However, there are also some dark
side
on
this
methode
. Publishing the case to the public may promote criminality and even foster
same
modus operandi
. Criminals may steal the idea and apply it somewhere else. For example, many serial killers have
an inspirational figures
. If we let that happen
then
it will be
hard
to
brake
the cycle. Furthermore, open judicial
process
may as well expose the victims. The exposure can create
more trauma even
to their family and relatives. The feeling of
embarassement
can frustrate them that can lead to negative result.
In conclusion, open judicial
process
is a sign of democratic era, where transparency and fairness are paramount. However, it also has some
drawbacks
such as promoting criminality and
expossing
the victims.
