The table illustrates the proportions of total water utilization allocated to various sectors in 2018 and 2020 in four European countries: Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden. Overall, it can be observed that agriculture had the highest percentage of water usage in all countries in both 2018 and 2020.
Spain and Poland demonstrated an increase of 2% in agriculture over these two years. Spain led with the highest percentage, which was 60% in 2018 and 62% in 2020 in the agricultural sector, while Poland placed second with 40% in 2018 and 42% in 2020. Conversely, Italy and Sweden showed a decline of 2% from 2018 to 2020, with Italy starting at 50% in 2018 and decreasing to 48% in 2020, and Sweden beginning at 30% in 2018 and decreasing to 28% in 2020. Although Sweden reflected the lowest percentage in the agricultural sector, it ranked first with the greatest percentage in the industry sector in both 2018 and 2020, showing an increase of 2% from 2018 to 2020.
Similarly, Italy's percentage in the industry sector grew from 30% in 2018 to 32% in 2020. In contrast, Poland and Spain witnessed a decline of 2% over the same period, with Spain starting at 25% and decreasing to 23%. Poland recorded a percentage of 35% in 2018 and 33% in 2020. Furthermore, Sweden once again led with the largest percentage, 30%, in the domestic sector in both 2018 and 2020. Consequently, Poland ranked second with 25%, Italy placed third at 20%, and Spain ranked last with the lowest percentage, 15%.
However, it is evident that the domestic sector did not experience any changes or fluctuations from 2018 to 2020 in the European region.
