The bar chart we are about to discuss today, shows the
avarage
spending per online shoppers. First of all, we need to consider the timeframe we are analyzing: the years running between 2018 and 2020 are those ones
affected the most by the pandemic Covid -19.As you can see 2020 (orange bars), shows a pretty significant increase in online shopping,
that's
because people were mostly not considering and avoiding in-person purchasing and human contacts, while preferring the
confort
and the safety of their homes to proceed with their shopping.
Also, we can see the differences between one region and another. North America,
for sure
, as a higher attitude to puchase
online instead of in person, and one of the causes could be the big distances, that sometimes, a customer has to run before reaching a specific place. Comparing to Latino America regions where people prefer the one to one
contact and where the trust in small businesses worth more than the one given to multinational companies.Overall, we can say that North America is the region where people spend the most of their money, probably because of their attitude to consumerism and lifestyle which force them to stay indoor - especially during winter time - comparing to the other regions where lifestyles are certainly different and more minded to spend time outdoor and or with friends/family.
Europe, Asia, Oceania and Latino America regions, offer a way better weather throughout the year and even in big cities, distances are still considered walkable. The culture and the mindset are great influencer on everyone and every day
life style
; most of the time material needs are promptly satisfied by human contact, arts and beautiful landascapes
to be visit
.
